Everyone Is Using AI to Create Content. And That Is Becoming a Problem

There is a strange thing happening in B2B marketing right now.

AI has made it incredibly easy to create content.

And as a result, a lot of content has become incredibly easy to ignore.

You have probably seen it yourself.

Open LinkedIn and within a few minutes you will find posts beginning with a dramatic statement, followed by three short lines, a list of lessons, and a conclusion telling you that the future belongs to businesses that adapt.

Everything is technically correct.

Very little of it makes you stop.

That is the problem.

LinkedIn reported earlier this year that 95% of B2B marketers are now using AI at least weekly and 65% use it daily. AI itself is no longer a competitive advantage.

The advantage is becoming what you do with it.

We Are Entering the Age of Perfectly Average Content

AI can research a topic.

It can structure an article.

It can generate ten headlines.

It can rewrite a paragraph fifty different ways.

That is useful.

But give the same prompt to hundreds of marketers and something predictable happens.

Everyone starts sounding similar.

The grammar gets better.

The formatting gets cleaner.

The personality disappears.

And when the person reading your content is also using AI every day, they recognise that style almost immediately.

That creates an interesting challenge for B2B marketing.

If creating content becomes almost free, attention becomes more expensive.

Buyers Do Not Need More Information

This matters particularly in B2B.

Most buyers are already overwhelmed with information.

They have Google.

They have LinkedIn.

They have analyst reports.

They have vendor websites.

And increasingly, they have ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and other AI tools summarising all of that information for them.

The marketer's job therefore cannot simply be:

"Let's publish another article explaining the five benefits of X."

The information probably already exists.

The better question is:

What can we say that gives someone a reason to hear it from us?

That could be an opinion.

A disagreement.

Something learned from running campaigns.

A mistake.

A question clients keep asking.

A pattern you have started noticing.

Even uncertainty can sometimes be more interesting than pretending to have every answer.

AI Should Help Produce the Content. It Should Not Become the Voice.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using AI in marketing.

We use technology across marketing and demand generation too.

The mistake is assuming efficiency and effectiveness are the same thing.

If AI allows a marketing team to create four articles instead of one, that sounds productive.

But if nobody remembers any of the four articles, what exactly improved?

The opportunity is to use AI for the things it does well:

Research.

Analysis.

Organisation.

Variations.

Data processing.

Repetitive work.

And then put the human back into the part that people actually experience.

The viewpoint.

The judgment.

The story.

The conversation.

The Next Content Advantage Might Simply Be Sounding Human

There is a certain irony here.

For years, marketers wanted technology that could make machines sound more human.

Now that we have it, brands may have to work harder to prove there is actually a human behind the machine.

The companies that stand out will not necessarily be the companies creating the most content.

They may simply be the companies with something genuine to say.

And in 2026, that is becoming surprisingly rare.

What do you think? Are you already finding it easier to recognise AI-written content when you see it?
