B2B landing pages are often written as though the visitor knows almost nothing.
Here is the problem.
Here is the solution.
Here is why it matters.
Here is the form.
But buyers now have access to an extraordinary amount of information before they ever arrive.
They can research the topic, compare approaches, ask AI tools questions, read reviews, study competitors and discuss the problem internally.
Your landing page may be appearing much later in their thinking than you realise.
Stop assuming every visitor is starting from zero
A buyer downloading a report might already understand:
- The problem
- The available approaches
- The major vendors
- Typical implementation challenges
- Common objections
- What their organisation needs
Repeating basic information can make the experience feel unnecessarily generic.
Instead, marketers should ask:
What would make this content genuinely useful to someone who already understands the basics?
That might mean offering:
- Original research
- Practical frameworks
- Detailed benchmarks
- Implementation advice
- Real examples
- Expert perspectives
- Questions they have not considered yet
The asset still matters
There has been plenty of discussion about whether gated content will survive changing buyer behaviour.
The better question is whether the content deserves the information being requested.
A strong report can absolutely justify a form.
A generic PDF assembled from information available everywhere else probably cannot.
This is particularly important in content syndication.
The goal should not simply be convincing someone to submit details.
The goal should be connecting the right audience with content that genuinely earns their attention.
At Pineapple View Media, we believe the quality of the asset and the quality of the audience should be considered together.
Better targeting cannot rescue weak content.
Great content cannot rescue completely irrelevant targeting.
The strongest campaigns respect both.
Because today's B2B buyer is not uninformed.
They are often arriving with half the research already done.
